Our Positive Behaviour Support Team wins international award
We are delighted to announce that The Richmond Fellowship Scotland has won an international award from the British Institute for Learning Disabilties (BILD). The work of our Positive Behaviour Support Team has won the award for ‘Innovative Practice in Positive Behaviour Support’ in the category of "Innovative pratice in services for adults."

The award was announced at the international conference held in Dublin in May 2010 and convened by British Institute for learning disabilities www.bild.org.uk. Anne MacDonald, Positive Behaviour Support Team Manager accepted the award on behalf of the organisation. The conference promoted Positive Behaviour Support as the most successful and appropriate method for supporting individuals with learning disabilities and behaviours which challenge. There were 150 delegates at the conference and a number of well known national and international speakers presented.

The Richmond Fellowship Scotland won the award on the basis of the work of the Positive Behaviour Support Team. This is in recognition that creating the Positive Behaviour Support Team has enables us to provide high-quality behavioural support to individuals with behavioural challenges – individuals who otherwise may find it difficult receive support in ordinary services within the community. The team is unique within social care in Scotland, and is an innovative solution to the need for social care organisations to be skilled in providing dedicated behaviour support to those who need it.
The Richmond Fellowship Scotland were commended by BILD for their innovative practice in having an internal, specialist team to support people with behaviours that challenge, and which enables staff and managers to access specialist behavioural support directly and internally.
