Organisation contributes to Quality conference

Representatives from The Richmond Fellowship Scotland participated in Quality and the Voluntary sector, a seminar hosted by Quality Scotland in association with Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations.

Chief Executive, Austen Smyth and Ann McGuigan, Contracts & Evaluation Manager, contributed to the seminar which set out to help organisations gain a better understanding of Quality in the voluntary sector and the standards and frameworks available.

Delivering a keynote speech, Austen described The Richmond Fellowship Scotland’s experience with the Investors in People (IIP) framework and how the organisation has benefited from accreditation. Ann McGuigan hosted a workshop which helped voluntary sector organisations to see whether or not they were ready to receive IIP accreditation.

Commenting on the conference, Ann McGuigan said:

“We were asked to participate because Quality Scotland believes that The Richmond Fellowship Scotland is well placed to comment on the benefits and hurdles of attaining IIP. Austen delivered an excellent keynote speech on IIP within the organisation and my own workshop allowed me to promote IIP to interested voluntary sector organisations. It was an enjoyable day and a great opportunity to share knowledge and network with other providers.”

IIP is the national standard of good practice for training and development of people to achieve organisational objectives. Quality Scotland is a not-for-profit organisation that promotes business excellence across Scotland in the private, public and voluntary sectors.
