Absence Management Reward Scheme

Gerry McLaughlin, Support Worker at the Dundasvale Older People’s Service in Glasgow, has become the first winner of the organisation’s Absence Management Reward Scheme.

The scheme rewards staff with a good attendance record with entry into a prize draw to win 15,000 Air Miles, redeemable through the Air Miles Travel Company.

The scheme has proven very popular with 165 people from throughout the organisation entering the draw, made by Chief Executive, Austen Smyth. Austen was also on hand to present Gerry with his Air Miles certificate:

“It gives me great pleasure to present Gerry with his 15,000 air miles. Gerry represents all the frontline support staff whose hard work and dedication means that the many people we support can live more fulfilling and rewarding lives. I’m delighted that his commitment to the organisation can be recognised in this way. I believe that 15,000 Air Miles is a great prize as it offers people the flexibility of travelling almost anywhere in the world that they choose. We look forward to hearing how Gerry benefited from the prize. I’m also particularly pleased that so many members of staff entered the draw and I believe that the Reward Scheme will now go from strength to strength.”

Gerry, who has worked at Dundasvale Service since April 2005, said:

“It feels fantastic to have won the award. I think it’s a great scheme and would encourage people to put themselves forward for the draw. It will allow me to realise a dream of mine to visit Kentucky. I’m very keen to follow in the footsteps of Thomas Merton, the famous writer and Trappist monk who spent a lot of time at Gethsemani Abbey near Bardstown, Kentucky.”
