TRFS Behaviour Specialists Share Expertise

The Richmond Fellowship Scotland's Positive Behaviour Support Team (PBST) will present their work at a major conference hosted by Care for Knowledge, an organisation dedicated to the development and sharing of knowledge to help evolve better human services.

The Managing Challenge? Building Better Services is a major conference exploring current innovation in working with people who can present as challenging within adult social care services.

The conference will bring together experts from Health and Local Authorities, Social Work services, Commissioners of Adult Services, Care Managers as well as Human Services Managers and Practioners. Care for Knowledge is keen to share the PBST's use of the Multi-element Model for assessment and support of people with behaviour support needs.

PBST Manager, Anne MacDonald, who will present at the conference, said:

"We are delighted that Care for Knowledge has invited us to share our experiences in the field of behaviour support with our fellow professionals. It is encouraging that a major behaviour support conference is taking place in Scotland and has been able to attract some of the leading practitioners in the field.

"We are passionate about our multi-element model which complements and builds upon person-centred practice thereby improving the quality of life of some of the most vulnerable and disempowered individuals in society. The model also helps our staff to adopt new working practices, giving them competence in behaviour support and the ability to mentor and coach service managers to facilitate learning new skills."

Care for Knowledge is a Scottish organisation dedicated to the development and sharing of knowledge to help evolve better human services. They are committed to enabling policy makers, managers, practitioners, providers and people who use services to learn from best pracice. Managing Challenge? Building Better Services will take place at Dewar's Centre, Perth on Thursday, 22nd November 2007.
