Fife Service features in Care Commission Forum

The Richmond Fellowship Scotland's Fife Floating Support Service played a key part in this year's Care Commission Forum in Clydebank.

The main theme of the event was the new ratings-based grading system which the Care Commission plans to implement in April 2008. Delegates were shown a short film featuring the Fife Floating Support Service which participated in a pilot inspection earlier this year. Locality Manager Sue More, FOCUS Co-ordinator Edie Gledhill and their Care Commission Officer provided interviews for the film.

Commenting on the experience, Sue More said:

"The Fife Floating Support Service was delighted to be able to support the Care Commission by participating in the pilot project. We hope that the film proved useful to the many delegates who were seeking information about the new grading scheme. We really enjoyed taking part and it will help our preparations for next year's implementation."

The new grading system will provide regular 'at-a-glance' report cards for care providers in a move designed to make it easier for members of the public to check the quality and performance of a care service, and make a better informed choice about whether or not to use it. More information about the new system is available from the Care Commission website.

The Fife Floating Support service provides short-term housing support to people aged 16 years and over with mental health difficulties, learning disabilities and drug & alcohol addictions. The service received a grading of five in each of the Quality Themes during the pilot inspection in August.
