The Richmond Fellowship Scotland has received a series of positive Care Commission Inspection reports, reflecting a consistently high level of support provision throughout 2007.

From April to December 2007, 58 services were inspected throughout the country. In their reports, the Care Commission highlighted the quality of the work carried out and evidenced this by commenting on their discussions with the people we support and their families. The vast majority of these services received no requirements or recommendations.

The Richmond Fellowship Scotland's Chief Executive, Austen Smyth, passed on his thanks and appreciation to support staff and their managers following the reports. Austen said: "This is a great reflection of the quality, commitment and sheer hard work undertaken by our staff to ensure that they provide services that make a difference to the quality of life for vulnerable people."

"The staff do all in their power to make life comfortable and stimulating for my relative. I am never done telling others about the wonderful care he receives."

"Since receiving the service from TRFS, my relative had thrived."

The Richmond Fellowship Scotland's services are inspected annually by the Care Commission. Each year, they announce standards they will measure the services against. They then carry out a series of announced, and unannounced, inspections. If services do not meet the required standards, the Care Commission can impose requirements which must be implemented. They can also suggest recommendations for areas of improvement.

The Richmond Fellowship Scotland has established a strong working relationship with the Care Commission. The Fife Floating Support Service played a key part in last year's Care Commission Forum in Clydebank. Delegates were shown a short film featuring the Fife service's participation in a pilot inspection for the new ratings-based grading system.
