Job Description

The Richmond Fellowship Scotland is a leading voluntary organisation, supporting people with a broad range of needs to live in their own homes, as part of their community. We are an organisation driven by strong values and a firm commitment to choice, dignity and social inclusion. Although we support over 2800 people throughout Scotland, we are committed to delivering services that recognise people as individuals and treat them with dignity and respect; just like we would all want ourselves.

We are currently looking to increase our Management team resource in the Buckhaven/Levenmouth Area and are looking for someone who can help our supported individuals to achieve their own positive outcomes. We are therefore looking to recruit a new Senior Support Worker to join the team.

If you have experience of working in a fast paced environment, working to deadlines, chairing meetings, experience of liaising with families, social work and health professionals along with the ability to think on your feet, this could be the opportunity for you. There is a good range of skills within our existing staff and management teams and you won`t be left to deal with things alone and will receive excellent training.
This is an exciting new stand alone HMO service potentially expanding to a core and cluster setting. The Senior Support Worker will be involved from the very start from assisting the Team manager to recruit a new staff team, to working on the systems which will be installed from their infancy as well as some input into the fittings, fabric and design of the actual building as it progresses. The Senior Support Worker will also be working closely with Social Workers and NHS professionals who will be involved from the beginning with the people supported in this new service. When the service is fully up and running the Senior Support Worker will be based in the service and instrumental in the front line management of the team in conjunction with the Team manager.

The individuals supported will require support at night therefore the services have rotas in place that include waking nights. As part of the management team you will be required to undertake on call on a rotational basis and you may be required to work the full range of shift patterns depending on the needs of the service. It is essential that you have a driving licence for this post.

There is 1 full time post available (37.5 hours per week). Previous experience of supporting individuals with mental health issues, learning disabilities, autism and complex needs is essential for this role while experience of working with a wider client group and individuals who have been involved with the criminal justice system would be advantageous. It would be beneficial if you have achieved or are working towards your SVQ 3 in Health & Social Care. The successful applicant must also register with SSSC as a Supervisor in Care at Home and Housing Support Services on taking up the post.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a change in your life and in that of the people we support. The work can be challenging, but as well as a competitive salary, enhanced pension contributions, annual leave and discounts at over 850 online and high street retailers, we can offer you a rewarding and satisfying role in your local community.

Closing date: 26/10/2018

PVG checks will be required of all successful applicants; having a conviction will not necessarily debar you from working in this sector.

Schedule 9 Part 1 (1)(1)(a) of the Equality Act 2010 applies to this post
