Balmoral Gate is a 10 place supported accommodation service which opened in February 2010 and was previously Huntly Lodge service. Balmoral Gate is within a newly built complex consisting of mainly owner occupied housing in Scotstoun. There are 11 different two bedroom flats with 10 allocated to individuals and one used as the staff office base.

It is a 24 hour staffed medium-to-high needs service for adults aged between 18 to 35 years with mental health difficulties. The service is registered with the Care Inspectorate as a care home.

Due to this service’s status as a registered Care Home, a financial assessment is required of all individuals prior to taking up a place and potential service users should be made aware of the implications with regard to their benefit entitlement.

The purpose of the Balmoral Gate service is to work with individuals to increase their life skills and independence and to promote social inclusion by assisting with access to wider community supports.

The usual length of stay at the service is around three years, with most individuals moving on to less supported living environments.

Support is carried out by means of assessing an individual’s needs and wishes. A person-centred approach is used in meeting their requirements and devising appropriate individual support plans.
