Hawthorn Court service supports people over 65 with dementia and mental health difficulties to live as independently as possible in their own homes and communities.

The service supports 18 people within the Hawthorn Court Sheltered Housing complex, during the day and night and as and when required. Support is provided during the day, evenings, including weekends and on public holidays. In addition every night (after 11pm and until 7am) there is a sleepover based in the service office to provide emergency support to individuals who may require assistance out with these times.

Support is provided by a dedicated staff team which consists of Team Manager, Senior Support Workers and Support Practitioners. Support may include any or all of the following; Personal Care and Support, Housing and Practical Support and Social Support. One of the main aims of the service is to keep people safe within their home and the wider community. The service uses Assistive Technology to help achieve this. This is linked directly from someone’s home directly to the office so that there is always staff on hand. This technology can include pendants, fall sensors and door contact alarms which aim to make the person safe within their home.

Residents within the Sheltered Housing complex have access to the communal halls within the complex where activities and entertainment take place regularly providing the opportunity to socialise with others within the complex.
