Kirkinch's Wonderful Garden!

Wednesday 19 August 2020

Gardens are more important than ever just now and we have loved seeing how the people we support and staff have been working hard to make their gardens lovely places to relax and to catch up with friends and family they perhaps haven’t seen for a while!

The people we support at our Kirkinch Service have been taking advantage of the fact they have a massive garden.  The only downfall of the garden is that it had a steep slope making it difficult for everyone to use the whole garden safely however, with the help of participatory funding they were able to erect a fence allowing everyone the opportunity to enjoy their garden.

One of the people supported, Anderson, had a great idea of building a pond. He wanted it right outside the window so he could watch all the wildlife visiting the garden.  He soon put Support Practitioner Fie to task and between them they created a beautiful pond which Anderson named Steele’s loch – named after their friend and housemate who passed away suddenly last year!

There was more to do as Anderson had lots of ideas of using the grassy space for trees and lots of other plants. Staff also painted the table and chairs in different colours to give a warm, bright place for all those who live at Kirkinch to experience and enjoy!
