It was worth the wait at Miller Gardens!

Tuesday 24 August 2021

Nan and Liz from our Miller Gardens service in Inverness were disappointed that their participatory funded BBQ in 2020 had to be put on hold but understood the reasons why!  However, this did not stop them both getting involved in making plans.

Sitting round the table with a cup of tea, the BBQ being the focus, it was agreed that their back garden was looking rather sad and neglected and in need of a “Love Your Garden” makeover.  With the help of green fingered staff everyone got to work and the end results are stunning.

Firstly there was the purchase of a summer house which Nan loves and spends many hours in it doing her arts and crafts. Slabs were laid making it much safer underfoot, raised flower beds are now full with beautiful flowers which Liz loves attending to but best of all is the fairy garden which was created by Liz and staff member, Evelyn!  When it’s dark, the fairy lights come on and the garden becomes magical (there are definitely fairies!).

Sadly during 2020 and earlier this year Nan and Liz lost two of their good friends, Veronica and Gena.  To make sure they are not forgotten, a beautiful memory garden was created.

At last, with restrictions easing, the day arrived!  Both Nan and Liz thought their BBQ was a great success. There was sunshine, mocktails, delicious food and some amazing homemade cake!  Alexa played some great tunes but by far the best and most important thing was being able to socialise with family and friends again.
