Aimee's participatory funding treat!

Thursday 7 April 2022

We have been leading, committing, investing and innovating in Participatory Funding since 2013.

We commit £100,000 each year, so the people we support can come up with their own ideas, events, activities and projects showing us that “Outcomes are Fun”!

Aimee, from our Pitairlie Service in Dundee wanted to tell us, in her own words why bidding and winning funds from the organisation's Participatory Funding has been so important to her.  Aimee can't wait to bid this year again!

“My name is Aimee and I am 33 years old.

I have ASPERGERS, BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER and PTSD.

I participated last year with my mum Maureen, who cares for me daily, with my physical and emotional support.

Last year she really enjoyed our spa day which was provided by you through the Participation fund.

On this day I saw my mum “SMILE FROM EAR TO EAR” this made me very happy and grateful for the opportunity that the participation fund gave not only me but “MY MAMMA BEAR” who is the most important person in my world? I have now been informed that again this year that I can apply for funds towards a day out, being able to see that lovely smile from my mum and see her eyes light up.

My mum has been through so much with me, and I don’t always show that I’m grateful and appreciate what she does for me.

My mum deserves to be rewarded with kindness.

This year I would like to do another spa day, but this time closer to home, this is because we were both so relaxed, this helps not only me but helps my mum too. Mum being happy is good for my mental health.

Staff at TRFS will assist me with choosing the venue and treatments available, and they have suggested me making a meal with staff and telling her then, this will be a special surprise".
