Aimee's New Year 'Dook'

Tuesday 9 January 2024

Huge CONGRATULATIONS to Aimee and keyworker Anne-Marie from our Pitairlie service for successfully completing the New Year's 'Dook' at Broughty Ferry Beach on 1st January 2024.

They were both awarded Certificates and T-Shirts for completing the 140th Anniversary 'DOOK ' and also managed to raise an impressive £400 with support and sponsorship from family, staff and friends.

Aimee said:

"I wanted to challenge myself and set myself a goal which will be out of my normal comfort zone. Doing this challenge, I have gained more trust with staff support. My keyworker, Anne-Marie has been encouraging me all the time. It has shown me that I am worthwhile and have the confidence to achieve the challenges ahead of me in my life.

I am very proud of myself, and I have helped raise money for others to enjoy. This is only the start, I have many other ideas and things I want to try".

Keyworker Anne-Marie said: "Our Pitairlie service has been supporting Aimee for four years and I have been her keyworker for much of that time. When first supporting Aimee she did not have much confidence in herself, but with support from the Pitairlie staff team, she has gained so much confidence in her own abilities.

Aimee has befriended everyone at Pitairlie by attending events and going on outings and she said she would like to give something back to the staff and others supported by the service. This is when we came up with the idea to do the New Year 'dook' ,and get sponsorship for doing it! As Aimee's keyworker I promised her that I would be with her every step of the way, and we trained on a Tuesday during her support.

All staff are so proud of all Aimee’s achievements and I look forward to our next challenge. (God help me!)".
