We’re Poets and boy, we know it!

Three creative poets, supported the TRFS team in Angus, put their romantic pens to paper to celebrate Valentine’s Day in February.

In a competition, sponsored by local business, Elvis Service Company, the people we support were challenged to compose a charming verse beginning with the line ‘Roses are red…’.

After the Angus team reviewed the entries, three winners were selected, each winning a St Valentine’s Day goodie bag that included a comforting Teddy, shower gels and hand wash, a 2024 diary, chocolates, limited edition love hearts sweets, a mug, art pencils, sticky reminder notes, sensory toy and a sweetie cone.

Local businessman Elvis Klasa, Managing Director of Elvis Service Company, was inspired to support the competition after hearing about the work of TRFS team based in Arbroath. Elvis said, “I was delighted to sponsor the goodie bags for the competition. The support of charities that work in Angus such as The Richmond Fellowship Scotland is extremely important to me and my family as we are a small local business whose values align with that of the charity”.

Angus Team Manager, Dee McMillan welcomed the donation and commented, “we are extremely grateful for the support from Elvis. It goes to show that even though we are a Scottish National care provider, partnerships like this on a local level are invaluable. It’s our intention to explore further partnerships similar to this model throughout the year. It makes possible, a real depth of care through Active Support and Participation.”

The Angus team are now planning their Easter activity.

Dee concluded, “You only have to see the look of delight on the winners faces to see how acts of kindness from local businesses are very much appreciated and can enhance the impact we can make to the lives of the people we support".
