Scottish Independence Referendum Discussion Event in Pollok

Friday 21 March 2014

Referendum

With the referendum for Scottish Independence approaching, Laurie Logan from our Elliston service wanted to make sure that the people we support were able to make an informed choice prior to casting their votes.

What we found was a belief that due to mental health or other issues, the people we support thought their votes did not matter. The Richmond Fellowship Scotland wanted to show them that they play a full and equal role as citizens and that indeed their opinions and votes are critical.

As a result, staff from our Glasgow South area have created the TRFS Referendum Discussion event which will take place between 2pm-4pm at Pollok Community Centre on Wednesday 26th March.

We will be joined by Councillor Bill Butler from the Labour Party and Councillor Shabbar Jaffri from the Scottish National Party. They will be discussing the Referendum and there will be a chance at the end of the discussion for people to ask questions on what matters to them.

All are invited attend and participate!

In the meantime, listen out for the broadcasts covering this event on Sunny Govan Radio 103.5FM. The first broadcast will be in Sunday's programme on between 6pm-7pm. You can use this link for further info: http://sunnygovanradio.com/
